Void Crusade

Void Crusade — Offline Edition

The complete game, free, running entirely on your own machine. No account, no internet connection, no servers — your campaign is yours forever.

What is the Offline Edition?

When the Void Crusade online servers shut down in October 2026, the game itself did not die. The Offline Edition is the same codebase — all 18 Legiones Astartes and the Mechanicum, the full event decks, captains and champions, research, flagships, the complete combat engine — packaged to run as a local application on your PC. It plays in your web browser, exactly like the online game did, but everything happens on your own machine.

Because there is no shared server, you control time itself: the offline edition adds time controls that let you fast-forward hours or days instantly, so build queues and fleet travel never mean real-world waiting unless you want them to.

How to Install (Windows)

  1. Go to uriel1339.itch.io/void-crusade and download the Windows build.
  2. Installer: run VoidCrusade-Setup.exe. It installs per-user (no admin rights needed) and creates Start-menu and desktop shortcuts, plus an uninstaller.
  3. Zip version: extract the folder anywhere and double-click Play Void Crusade.cmd.
  4. Your browser opens automatically at http://127.0.0.1:3777 — create a campaign and play. Closing the launcher window ends the session; your save is kept.

Tip: installing through the itch.io desktop app gets you automatic updates. Without it, the game checks itch.io on launch and shows a banner when a newer build exists — updates can also apply themselves in-game.

Your Saves

Campaigns are saved locally at %LOCALAPPDATA%\VoidCrusade\saves. Saves live outside the install folder, so updating or reinstalling the game never touches them. Back that folder up and your crusade moves with you to any PC.

Playing Co-op With Friends

Offline does not mean alone. Any player can host their campaign for friends:

  1. The host opens Host Online Campaign in-game. The game opens a free secure tunnel and shows a 6-character join code.
  2. Friends enter that code in their own copy of the game (or open the host's link directly) and join the campaign in their browser.
  3. Hosting ends when the host closes the game; the campaign stays on the host's machine and can be re-hosted any time.

The join-code service is the one small online piece we keep running — if it is ever unreachable, the host can simply share the tunnel link shown in-game instead of the code.

Troubleshooting

  • Browser doesn't open: start the game, then manually browse to http://127.0.0.1:3777.
  • Port already in use: another copy is still running — check for a Void Crusade window or terminal and close it first.
  • Windows SmartScreen warning: the build is an unsigned fan project — choose "More info" → "Run anyway".
  • Anything else: ask on our Discord — the community is still there.
